hello everyone,
it's a Turk here who is interested with our distant relatives in the northlands..
Is the Kanteletar related with the finnish instrument kantele which places in Kalevela? Anyone has any idea?
And.. Everyone knows that Tolkien has been affected by old myths and legends. And it's a strong possiblity that, the ring there is not related with sampo. It seems more similar to the ring of the Salomon which is given him by Gabriel. On that ring, there was the sign of 6 pointed star (like in israeli flag) and with that magic ring, he could rule wind, he could fly also he used to able to talk with animals.
I am not sure if it's same in Christian religion too, but in Islam it's such.
[ May 10, 2005: Message edited by: Dingil ]
